SOS In The Studio With JR Rotem

Here’s a great interview by Sound on Sound in the studio with Producer JR Rotem, who definitely needs no introduction. In the video below JR gives us a walk through of how he created “Centuries” by Fall Out Boy.

He also shares some really neat tricks about audio mixing especially how to mix bass and blending the vocals with the whole song. Remember, it doesn’t matter if you’re using Cubase Pro 8 or FL Studio the tips will work.

JR also talks about one important aspect that a lot of engineers get get wrong, which is using a synth or VST piano sound instead or recording a bad quality piano sound and how Fall Out Boy recorded the song.

You will get a listen to all the individual parts of the song and he shares some really great techniques. Even though the video is short I believe you will learn a lot from it. Get some tips about how to craft a successful track.

Enjoy the video and leave your thoughts below by leaving a comment, I would like to know what you think about this session. We’ll talk again soon, I have more music production tutorials for you and as always, feel free to send me your tutorial requests.
